Bus 450 was a MAN SG192 articulated bus.
Notes
- Bus 450 was the first European-style articulated bus to enter regular service in Australia.
- It was delivered to the Canberra Bus Service on 21 May 1976, with a Voith D506 gearbox (it was subsequently modified to the Voith 851)
- It entered service on Route 16 between Woden and City Interchanges on 27 September 1976. [1]
- The bus cost $73,000, including modifications. [2]
- Due to a stalemate with the union regarding appropriate staffing on the bus, it was nearly sold prior to entering service. [3]
- It was involved in an accident on Barry Drive during a storm on 1 December 1987.[4] Photos can be seen in our Gallery.
- Following withdrawal from regular service in late 1990, it was retained for a time as part of ACTION's heritage fleet.
- After being sold from ACTION it operated for Stewart & Sons Coaches, Bundaberg Qld (Rego 017 EYB / Fleet Number 20).
- It was last known to be in private ownership.
